Boise State Basque Studies Program began with the vision to keep the unique Basque culture alive in an academic way that few other colleges and universities are able to do. Boise State, with much assistance from Cenarrusa Foundation for Basque Culture created a Basque Studies Program with a minor and certificate available with the hopes of forming a full undergraduate degree in the near future.

The Program wanted to create and easily accessible site with useful information for people looking at Boise State University and the Basque Studies Program. It consists of events pertaining to the specific program as well as other University and Basque events.

The Basque Block

Just like the Historic Northend, Boise is lucky enough to have an area designated for its unique Basque culture. The Basque Block consists of 3 restaurants (2 of them Basque), a Basque Market, A Basque Museum and Cultural Center, a Fronton court, and a Basque Club house that hosts many Basque and non-Basque groups on a regular basis. This area of town, found on Grove Street between 6th and Capital Streets is a focal point for the city as well as the surrounding Basque communities.

This website links all these entities together to organize and assist those interested in the area. It consists of events that take place on the block as well as surrounding Basque communities, has stories of people and groups connected to the Block as well as photos from various events and organizations.

The International Programs Office (IPO) is a centralized division for international education, developing and managing quality international initiatives, programs, support services, and international partnerships for Boise State University. They integrate international education, global perspectives, and cross-cultural knowledge into the university’s academic programs and the community at large.

They wanted a website that would assist students of diverse backgrounds as well as satisfy university requiements. With this in mind, International Programs ended up with a site easily accessible to students, faculty and staff that were interested in the program.

The Basque Museum and Cultural Center

Boise, Idaho has long been a central location where Basque immigrants first congregated after coming to the United States from the Spanish Basque Region. As immigrants established their lives here, Basques became well known for their hard work and perseverance. The Basque Museum & Cultural Center provides a look into the Basque heritage by exhibits, collections, and tours. As a cultural center, it's a gathering place for events and educational opportunities - in which people of all backgrounds can participate in Basque activities.

The Basque Museum & Cultural Center needed to provide a look into the heritage of the Basque communities of Idaho and surrounding areas as well as have their museum store available for those that are not in the area.
